May the 4th Be With You!

It's been a crazy week - a fun week, but busy. I always help out a friend for Mother's Day week at her flower shop, so in addition to Cows-n-Corn mornings, and Somerville Post Office/general store on Thursday, I worked  afternoons and Saturday at the flower shop. And today, after church, I worked at the lavender shop. I don't make much, but I do love the variety! Here's  some highlights from the flower shop!

Happy Earth Day and I AM A CZT!

I am a CZT now! I feel such elation and also a sense of responsibility to the ceremony we know as Zentangle.

This week's Diva Challenge was an Earth Day (or Amanda Day, see her post) representation. We don't usually do representations in Zentangle but we do make exceptions as needed, because we can! I did this in bed last  night with 4 dogs bumping me, so there are lots of extra wiggles. But here it is anyway.

Flux #211

I'm catching up on Diva Challenges and made an Easter greeting card at the same time. This week the tangle challenge was to use Rick and Maria's "flux". My Flux is a combination of both styles. What can I say? That's what Zentangle is and that's what Flux does!

Spiral Challenge #210

BTL Joos just grows and grows and is hard to contain. I had to cut some thorny weeds last week when this challenge was issued, it grew around twisting in to everything in its path. When I finally sat down to tangle a spiral, that is all I could think of! So, here it is!

Zendala

I know I got this Zendala template from Bright Owl but I don't know which dare it was, but I will keep  looking.  I think this is only my 2nd Zendala though! And despite  a cat helping me and a micron pen blow out, I am satisfied. Now on to the test of my day! Have a great day!

Go green #209

The Diva challenge this week was to use green... I had been doing a couple of "shamrock" tiles the past couple of days to send out for St. Patrick's  Day, which is also my sisters birthday, but I  had not used color. I decided for the challenge to remain true to Zentangle in form, so even though I am clover shaped, there is no up or down or right or wrong...

On the camping realm, it isn't warm enough yet, but I am considering pulling out the old thrift store found tent and making repairs to it. I really want to experiment with paint or stain or stenciling on the tent. It is a big tent and it has a hole or two, so it will either be fun, or a huge frustration! But the weather over the next few days is supposed  to  be  pleasant - yay!

Have a wonderful day! Go green!

Diva Challenge #208

Using cubine and poke root. And a little poke leaf. This was a fun and  fast one. Thanks Diva! I used a micron  05 for almost all of this tile.

I'm really getting psyched for CZT#18 now. The practice over the past couple of months has boosted my confidence. I have learned a lot about my self, my surroundings, my limits, ... a lot of surprising insights through the process of this thing called Zentangle. It definitely deserves to have copyright status for the process. I can't wait to start sharing this with others.

Unbatz Challenge

The Diva Challenge #207, Unbatz by Sandy Hunter! This was a fun one.  I wasn't thrilled with my overall Zentangle but it was fun to play with a new tangle!  Thanks, Sandy!

Diva Challenge #206

Collaboration with my father... I have been putting this off  because I wanted perfection. But as soon as I let it go and just did this project, I am ready to do another!

My father is a hobbies photographer. His work is outstanding and HE is a perfectionist! So, I understand why I wanted to do my best. I had double prints made of a couple of his florals, two, just in case.  ;-)

Ultimately, this is what I did. Without good lighting. In one evening. In bed. When I let the perfectionist go, I let her go!

So here it is and I am ready to do it again!

Sunday snow day

Yesterday's snow is melting, but church was called off. Probably a  good call, even though it isn't that bad now. Anyway, it gave me a chance to do a Zentangle this morning.

I am heading up to my work room now to work with some newly acquired burlap!

Year of the Sheep!

This is the Diva Zentangle challenge for this week, the Chinese New Year symbol which is "goat" or "sheep". I tried out 2 new-to-me tangles, curl by Lu-Marie Laker and Cruffle by Sandy Hunter.

#203 Diva Challenge

In the summer of 2011, I took my first (and only) Zentangle class. At the beach shortly thereafter,  I explored beachy tangles in their natural setting.  After working Athitzi by idiloewenherz for awhile,  I was reminded of the mollusks and corals of the sea,  so the edges took that image for me.

This tangle was simple but NOT easy.  The perfectionist had a hard time letting go. The little lines are not even... much of this was my hand, eyes, etc. Some of this had to do with my notebook.

I bought an adorable Global Arts Materials hand book 3.5" X 8". The watercolor paper appears to be good quality. It feels "okay". When you take you pen to it though, it is NOT great. It's okay,  but it sorta 'catches'my pen. It's not a Moleskin.

Love

This is a Valentine Zentangle I am  sending to my granddaughter. One of the special things about doing a Zentangle specifically for someone is that you are thinking of that person while you tangle and lots of love goes into the paper. I want to help others  find that Zen when I start teaching.

202 Diva Challenge

I have to say this was fun,  but I used a new notebook and between the help of my cats and the quality of the paper - not my best effort...  but I am okay with it... that's the nature of Zentangle!

Today's Tangle and Glamping update

I hate winter. There, I said it. I need sunshine. I need warmth.  My friend,  Vicki, asked for a Beach inspired Zentangle. So, here it is.

As I was in this Zentangle this morning,  I realized that I DO want to camp/glamp this year.  For some reason, I had thought my camping days were numbered,  but I am looking forward to getting back out there. I prefer to camp alone. I prefer my "comforts" when camping. And I prefer camping off season, in April, May, September and October. Unfortunately,  I work in September and October but I am going to have to work around that this year! So, my camping is simply becoming better defined!

Moebius Syndrome

I am the Diva  Zentangle challenge this week is in support of Moebius Syndrome.  Go to her blog to read about it and see the sweet photos of her son who has MSAD. I decided to do the challenges this year as consistently as possible in preparation of CZT#18!
